How do I use the Blogs?

This is intended as a guide on how to register and why; what user levels exist and how to get promoted

[More:]

Firstly, Anyone can read the blogs without being a member, so it is not obligatory to register. Registering will give you access to the next level, whereby you are then allowed to add comments to the public blogs

(The site consists of several blogs, split into two main categories: public and private. Public blogs can have posts added by band members and comments by any registered member. Private blogs are used to create other website pages, and are only open to posting from admin users)

Firstlty, all members must register. This is done by selecting the 'Register' link on the Right hand side of the default 'misc' blog (this one!) and on most of the public blogs. This will ask you for a user name , email and password. (The email will only be used to verify your login details). Don't close the current page, but open your email client. you will almost instantly be sent a reply with a link that will allow you to complete the registration and log in and complete the process.
In some cases, mostly hotmail accounts, your email server may block the reply. If so, you will have to email me to manually complete the progress.
you will now be a registered user. This will allow you to add your comments on most blog entries. If I recognise you as a band member/committee member, I will promote you to a higher level when I see you register. If this does not happen , or you want to make sure, email me and I will promote your account accordingly. Even if you are not a playing member, If you wish to contribute to the site, I will consider promoting anyone to band member status in order that they can post entries on the blog. you will be able to see instructions to do this once you have registered

Middleton Band Concert

Conductor Matthew Stringer began the concert with the March
Barnard Castle, this was followed by the Overture The Magic Flute.
The first soloist of the evening Pam Smith on Cornet played "Share My Yolk which was then followed by "Putting on the Ritz" (Irving Berlin). George Gershwin's "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess with Soprano Cornet Soloist Louise Grain was followed by "Someone to Watch over Me" (Alan Fernie) and the first half ended with Goff Richards "Breezing Down Broadway"

The second half began with the March "Mid West" then "Ticket to Ride" and Adam O'Neil (Euphonium) performed the solo "Holy Well"
"Singing in the Rain". "Irish Blessing" and "Malaguena" quickly folloed and the evening was brought to an end with "The Lord's My Shepherd" and an "American Trilogy". The band was thanked for the great start to the Autumn programme of concerts and they were wished every success in the forthcoming National Championships to be held in Harrogate at the end of September.
