The band would like to welcome Louise Marsden who will be playing at the British Open on the front row. Louise has played for the Marple Band and was a member of the Band when they won the British Open in 1996.
Also joining the band on percussion is Kate Yarwood who joins the band from Pennine Brass. Kate started playing percussion, piano and flute when she was six and has played in many varied music ensembles since then. She has been studying for a music degree at Huddersfield and has just moved back to Manchester to start her new job as Support Assistant at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital School
As with most bands, August is a quiet month with many players on holiday, including our conductor, Jim. Rehearsals for the Open start in earnest next week and here's hoping Jim had a relaxing holiday before getting to grips with the test piece.
